In honor of Jimi's passing on this date back in 1970, somebody posted these photos on a Hot Tuna fan page. Looks like Jack is playing his Starfire Bass through a huge Sunn stack. It looks like 200S heads, but it could be 2000Ss, the picture is kinda fuzzy. Jack was quoted in a n interview:

"Yeah, Noel went on guitar -- he had a Gibson, double cutaway, a 345 I think, and Noel switched to guitar and I played bass. I think we did a couple of songs at Winterland then later on -- when they played the Oakland Coliseum, I played there too. The hook was that I was on the album. I think we did some other songs like "Red House" and a couple of others. And actually, Jimi got my name mixed up with Jack Bruce on one show and introduced me as "Jack Bruce." But, hey, it was OK. Jack-this. Jack-that. At least he got the "Jack" right."

Apologies if these were posted before. It's the first time I've seen them!

I have a vague recollection that there is some imagery from the session that produced "Voodoo Chile" (not to be confused with "Voodoo Child (Slight Return)" which has Jack on bass and Steve Winwood on organ). Of course I can't find such imagery now.

That said, the top, color, image, is attributed in some sources to be from a performance in Oakland in 1969. Another source says the image was in the booklet (remember that - when music was packaged with booklets!!!) that accompanied the 1998 album "Live At the Oakland Coliseum". That album was recorded live April 27, 1969. The song Jack played on in Oakland was VC (Slight Return) and not VC.

I was at one of the Experience Winterland shows during which JC sat in. It's the only time I saw Hendrix live and it was a killer performance (which was not always the case with Jimi). They all played well that night. Magic.

I had never seen the black and white one before! The color photo has popped up here and there (though maybe not yet HERE on LTG)
