I am a huge fan, but The Who have not existed since 1978. With that said, I do like seeing Roger and Pete working together.

(BTW, the sound is only going to be "incredible" when the halftime entertainment consists of a lip synched performance by a corporate automaton. Seeing Keith Richards digging in and nothing coming out of his guitar was the last straw for me. I figured if this halftime show was awesome, I'd catch it later on Youtube.)

I missed all the commercials too. The Caribbean World Series was infinitely more fun. :D

pete's vocals were always spotty. and so was is guitar playing.

tv music mix usually is bad just the overall nature of the beast.

I see no reason why they should not play and enjoy themselves if there is still an audience that is willing to see it and someone is willing to pay for it.

as for me if I make it to 65 I am going to turn up my loudest amp and make my guitar feedback until I melt the walls

I was highly disappointed in the half time performance, I thought it was pitiful...

However, thank you so much Scottdog for those links, as you have restored my faith (??) in The Who and probably must agree that the performance problems were mix/playback related.

I had seen a Townshend solo performance of Magic Bus that I thought was brilliant, and the presscorps show illustrates nearly that.

I have been trying to get those rapid-strums down...almost have it for The Kids Are Alright... :D

Right on, TV audio consistently lame.

The Who hype wasn't all that bad, a half dozen scantily clad dancin wimmin would have made the visual a bit more tolerable.

I think it would be very hard to get the sound just right at one of these half time show. Even with a sound check. How does everything get hooked up in like five minutes. I just have not heard a good mix on any half time show I can remember. And if my Steelers were playing, I was likely too drunk to tell. Man I drink too much and too fast when they play.

I've seen them doing this sort of thing before, and I like it. But really, get that man a Guild!

Yeah, thanks for the links, Scottdog - the Who have always been great unplugged, perhaps even moreso now as they have gotten older. Those rapid strums are so uniquely Townsend's - I love it!

This reminds me of the mystery surrounding the death of philosopher Rene Descartes. RD and some friends were seated at a table in a cafe, deep in discussion. The waiter came around with a pot of coffee. "Pardonnez-moi, Monsieur Descartes", he said, "would you like more coffee?"

"I think not", replied Descartes.

And then he vanished.
