Lawrence's two guitarist in the background don't look very amused.
Wow! Thanks for the name -- I couldn't remember it. Is one of the players in the clip Buddy? I think the other guy's name was Neil LeVang. I don't know if he is in the clip or not, either. Didn't know Buddy played Steel either! The stuff you learn on this forum!Interesting clip. The Welk guitarist on the left is my 1st and only teacher, Buddy 'Uncle Buddy' Merrill. He passed away last Dec. My father, a sax player, recruited Buddy for his weekend combo, and they would rehearse in our basement. Lessons on a gigantic Orpheum archtop, like his legendary L-5, ensued. Nevertheless, I continue to be a mediocre player.
He was a great guitarist, making awful music. He also knew how to make his lap steel say good morning which blew my little 15 yr old mind.
Interesting question!I am wondering whether they got the moves from the UK's The Shadows, or whether The Shadows got them from The Chantey's?
It was a thing in the 60's, I can remember trying to work steps out with my first garage band and that might have been '65 or '66.

Don't know if The Chantay's got the moves off The Shadows, but The Shadows were definitely doing it earlier.I am wondering whether they got the moves from the UK's The Shadows, or whether The Shadows got them from The Chantey's?

Hank Marvin has certainly been one of the biggest influences on British guitarists and remains an iconic figure, who's name has become rhyming slangDon't know if the Shadows were better dancers/prancers, but they were definitley more talented musically!

Oh! Now I get it! In Britain "hank marvin" is slang for "starvin" or very hungry. Still enjoyed the clip anyway.
I find rabbit holes pretty interesting.Search and be prepared to spend some time down a rabbit hole.
I just can rarely seem to fit inside one.I find rabbit holes pretty interesting.
