Nice. I like the way the gold, engraved tuner buttons give some "bling" to the plain, trapezoidal headstock, Jim. Is that headstock Brazilian rosewood?

Yes sir, it's a Brazilian overlay. EIR back and sides and Adirondack top.

Congrats! From the guitars I've picked up and played at Elderly Instruments, I have to say Collings is consistently making the finest guitars in America right now. Superb tone, impeccable quality of workmanship. Actually, I'm Jonesing after one of their "A" style mandolins, also beautiful works of art.

Well hello Harry. We're doing well. Retired June 1. I spend a little time out your way from time to time as baby boy works in Fort Worth. It's been whirlwind my friend. When the world settles down a bit, I'll meet you out that way and buy you lunch, or dinner, or a beer! As far as fancy guitars for a country boy, Scratch down in the Hill Country bought a Collings several years ago, and I was blown away. This one was my retirement gift. : ) PM me your number my friend.....I had it, but it's been too long.

Jim THAT'S THE ONE!!! WOWZA!!! That's such a beautiful shape.... can you show the whole guitar? I see that headstock and the Collings name in that logo style and I get all .... excited. That's my fave of their headstocks but just that name is enough. Wanna see the whole guitar though!!

The CJ has a German spruce top Tom........another incredible guitar. Great for finger style.

Does it have a thicker than normal pick guard, or am I seeing an optical conclusion.

Hi West! The shape of the headstock and pickguard on that CJ is really classy! I don't recall ever seeing that, or I have forgetton, but I love it!

I would say they are thinner pick guards than my Guilds Ralph. In fact, I just put a Guild and a Collings side by side, I'd say the Collings pick guards are half the thickness of my Westerly built Guild guitars.
