They were designed by Aaron and staff, not manufactured by them, absolutely. I could have been a bit clearer. Those pickups were designed with the idea of getting as close to the sound of a Gibson humbucker as possible, without infringing on Gibson patents. Aaron told me that they got some Gibson humbuckers and analyzed the magnetic patterns with iron filings over paper. They would make a sample pickup, Al Dronge would listen to it, snap "Make it sound more like a Gibson!" and stomp off. They didn't get as close as they wanted to, but I told Mr. Newman that they were great sounding pups in their own right.
