Well of course - it’s one of those Japan-only models!

I've counted 12 tuning machines and 12 strings. Does Japan have a different meaning for the number 13, like our 12?.
Full length finger board?
Oh!! I get it .........................................this was posted on April 1. Wasn't it? I'm confused...What else is new.

This is the guitar that was stuck to the bottom of Buckaroo Banzai's rocket powered Bronco when he returned from the eighth dimension. 🤣

I see all 13 strings. I wish there was video so I could hear them all. 😉

Not only 13 strings, but when I scroll down to similar items, the same guitar is pictured for $100 less:

Do other countries celebrate April Fool's Day or is 13 a typo and not a joke?

Has someone looked harder than I have and decided this is not a legitimate made in China Guild from the CMG years or later?

There is more than one story regarding its origins, but April Fool's Day apparently began in Europe. I grew up hearing that, at the latest, the day originated in the mid-1500s when France adopted the Gregorian Calendar. Under the Julian calendar, the new year began on Easter. The story goes that for some strange reason everyone did not get the news flash that we are all switching to a new calendar, and the new year would now commence in the middle of Winter. Those who didn’t pay attention had the dates wrong and became the butt of pranks and jokes.

Knowing that the Japanese numbering systems is COMPLETELY different from our own, I had assumed the instrument to be legitimate, the use of the number 13 to be attributable to a simple mistake. If it is a prank, whoever thought it up did a great job, as it has spawned a humorous kerfluffle.

Typos can be really fun. I often play my huitar in open H tuning. Try it, it's a pretty nice sound. Great for slide, too.
