As I was going to bed at 2:30am I noticed that the website (and others on my server) were responding very sluggishly.
I restarted Apache (the web service software) and all seems to have been resolved. I've rebooted the system just because I'm a glutton for late-night punishment and the system had been up for 183 days. That's not a big deal for Linux but it's good to reboot every now and again just to make sure rebooting works.
