Hi guys, Im a newbie here since I am new to Guilds!
I recently bought a '78 B302 because it sounded unreal. Well, a month later now feel that I wont be keeping the bass much longer :( It has THE sound that I've always wanted, but I can't get used to the shorter upper horn which makes me feel like I'm playing a 36" bass.
My question is, are there any other pickups that sound like these older Guild single coils? Any help is greatly appreciated :)

Welcome.

I'm afraid I'm not much help. My hands on experience is with Guilds that are earlier than yours.

Perhaps member/collector grot has some opinions?

You need the next generation of Guild basses after the B-300 series. They're the SB-200 series. New body shape, same pick-ups!

Here's my '82 SB-202;

I always found the S-300 series to be very neck heavy. So much so that I had attached a dog snap to the strap so I could clip it to a belt loop to keep the neck from diving. The SB-200 series hang better, but they're heavy! (Well if you're used to a "P" bass maybe not so much!) I play Pilots 'cause the poplar bodies are super lightweight. 6.5 lbs!

Those seem to be more rare than the 300 series :) I'll keep my eye out for one of those, but I doubt Ill ever see one locally. I adjusted my strap to be shorter, and that seemed to makeit more comfortable for now. I guess nothing quite sounds like th ese, huh?

Oh, and my B302 is fairly light for me...<9lbs. The neckdive hasn't been much of an issue since I always rest my arm on the bass...but the longer distance is what killed me. Thanks for the help and warm welcome :)
