I'm new here and there may be a thread on the D240E so if there is, I apologize for beating a dead horse....

I like mine! I put Custom Inlay persimmon pins in it and use Martin Flex Core strings (11-52's currently, though I have used 12-54's) and have tried the 80/20's.
I like PB's better... it's a keeper. I even got everyone I play open mic with to sign it as well as the owner of the venue where I play and my 2 favorite waitresses...
I've not liked the Fishman pup in it, because the other Fishman pups have been, lacking, IMO. I have an Orangewood Ava and a Martin 00015M that I put the Lr Baggs Lyric in and I like the result...

I don't use a pick, ever and my skill level hasn't, IMO, even reached novice... I've only been playing, in earnest, since March 2020... I don't watch TV, so all I do is read
about everything, especially guitars, play at playing, trying to sing and write songs.

I've posted in a few threads and even started one on the D20 and D120 models... so far, I am enjoying this forum and how informative it is.

Anyway, I'm becoming a greater fan of Guild the more I read and play the 2 I have (the other is a DS240)... but I've not run across any threads for it, the D240E, so I wanted to give it some love.

Thanks for the report. The 200-series Guilds get a good amount of respect around here. I've never played a D240E, but I have an OM240E and like it a lot; it stays on a stand in my living room so I have something I can just grab and play on the couch. It plays very comfortably and sounds surprisingly good given the price. I hope the D2240E keeps inspiring you--you're at a stage where you can make some pretty dramatic improvements in your playing.

Recent experience. I had tried 80/20 strings, didn't like them. So, I had a set of 12-54 PB and put them on...

So, I put 11-52 PB's back and dang? I love how it sounds. I've been using Martin Flex Core, but, just for the heck of it I tried Martin SP's (Superior Performance label/pkg) .... sweet! And they are 50 cents less than the Flex Core label.

I had a D240e for a while and I liked it fine. It was a pretty good guitar. My wife bought me a D-20 for my birthday and traded the D-240e in on it. Yes, I knew she was going to do that, it wasn't a surprise. Anyway, nothing wrong with it, I just didn't need it.

I played Elixir PB lights on it.

LOL.... I never use the word need when talking about guitars ... non-guitar people ask: Why do you have so many? You can't play but one at a time... I tell them, it's like riding a Harley; if I have to explain you won't understand.

I'm also a 200 series player. F240E, the entry level jumbo. They are all a lot of guitar for the money
I have to admit, I've looked at the Jumbo model and even the mini-jumbo, they do intrigue me. There have been a couple of them, (an Epiphone and most recently a Gibson), at the open mic I play at... they are sweet sounding guitars.

Well, welcome to the Guildhouse!

That D240 ought to serve you well! Before I joined here, I had a number of Epiphone Masterbilts -- inexpensive by comparison to the US.-built Guilds. I had Epiphone EF500s because I thought I needed the 1.75" nuts because of fat fingertips. After playing a while, the fingertips seem to sharpen up, and the 1.68" nuts aren't really a problem. I always liked 12-strings, though, and I picked up an inexpensive Takamine GJ72CE-12 and discovered I really liked 12-strings. So what's the best 12-string out there? Well, Guild of course. My first Guild, a JF30-12 (under $1,000!), really made a difference. The rest is history. Keep on playing! The enjoyment (and therapy) just doesn't end!

That's great that you have so many, lots of guitar players do. You don't need to explain it. I just don't like having a lot of guitars laying around. I have two of them and that's all I need. For now, that could change. I don't think you can go wrong with a D240e at the price they are going for. I like the arched back.

I accidentally ran across this a few minutes ago. It's what mine sounds like (to me) sitting on top of it. Admittedly, my hearing is weird, years of ear drum abuse and age have made my hearing like my head is stuffed full of cotton, but, this is a fair to middling demonstration doing a much, much better job at demonstrating than I am capable of.
