I see you have an old Yamaha listed, I love those things

Nippon Gakki red label. The folks bought it for me when I was 11 or so. It was my only guitar for about 40 years. Found the DV-6 hanging on a music shop wall and decided it was time for another guitar. That led to me finding this place, which led to my signature looking the way it does.

I had the FG-110 worked on after the DV-6 arrived - new bridge and saddle, new nut, setup, etc., and it sounds wonderful. It is still the easiest guitar for me to play, thanks to 50 or so years of muscle memory.

It was my sisters. She bought it new. She was a huge John Denver fan. Ended up with me about 20 years ago after the action was so bad she couldn’t play it. I had a local high end builder set it up, and it’s incredible. And she just told me to keep it! Greatest sister ever!
BTW, nice name!
Paul
haha, wish I had a sister like that.

Hey Linnmo,

I only now discovered this thread, great that you the man found us after your conversions were discussed before! It is always a joy to salute passionate guitar lovers here, and in your case a very skilled and passionate craftsman as well.

You mentioned some youtube channels that were helpfull in the process - do you rember which ones?

Have a good day!

Welcome to LTG, Paul! As others noted, you've done beautiful work on your re-imagined Guilds. That F-312 6-string is a real work of art and a fabulous save. The "before" pictures definitely look like firewood to me.

Ah, Yes, the channels I found very helpful were.
twoodfrd and randy schartiger. both very different approaches and extremely informative. I started watching their channels about a year before I began my quest.
YT is full of great luthiers explaining their work, just a wealth of knowledge there.
Anyway, nice meeting,
Cheers

lol, yes, I think it almost became firewood before I got it.
It was such a great opportunity because all the pieces were there, how it was made.
The people at Guild in the old days had the passion.
They were creating history. Long live Guild :)

Welcome to LTG!

I missed seeing this thread when it was new. I'm glad it has been revived. That is astounding work with beautiful results, Mr. Helmig. Are you still enjoying those Guild's?

Well, yes, they are in constant rotation. (Except for the 2512 that I gave away) lol,
Thank you for the compliment.
Cheers
