The tuners on my D40 Traditional look nice and work fine. They are some no name tuner of unknown origin. Same with my D20. Nice enough tuners but generic. At this price point, wouldn’t it behoove them to use Grovers or Gotohs or something similar? A known name reinforces the perception of quality and at the quantity they would order, probably wouldn’t add much to the cost. Just a thought.

Agreed. If they are the Der Jung (made in China) DJ426A Sta-Tite style tuners like on my F-40 Traditional, they don’t feel precise and sometimes feel grabby. And worse, they are an odd size so Grover or Gotoh tuners are not a drop-in fit. Stupid Guild.

I'm not sure who makes them (and don't really care), but I really like the tuners on my D40T, and their 21:1 ratio. Mine work as well as any tuners I've used, including Waverly.
