These strings are expensive, but they're pretty unique. Frosty recommended them to me a while back, and I have a set of Spectrums on the Hoboken F-50R and I like them a lot. I'm tempted to get a 12-string set sometime. Anyway, Strings and Beyond sent me this email today. I'm sure they won't mind you guys using the discount coupon. ;) Best wishes. - Chaz

I'm looking for a set of Thomastick as well, the problem is that here they costs 29.40 euros for a 12 strings set...

I recall that one user here said they worked great on his pacemaker so I'd like to try it,if they ship abroad.

Check out the prices here and have one of us send them over.

It must be cheaper, no?

Gopher it, Chaz. I string my Hoboken F-112 with TIs. Caveat: I am not looking for bright and brassy tone, and I like the results.

Also use TI's on my pre-Loard pumpkin-top Gibson A mando... a most charming and sweet tone results.

Cuthbert, you are seriously paying through the nose for things in Europe. That really stinks. After all, these strings are *made* in Europe! Your 29.40 Euros is roughly $41.16 (USD)

Anyway, with a 10% discount off the SB211 Spectrum bronze 12 string set from StringsAndBeyond.com... well, that's $24.26 (USD) plus a couple of dollars for shipment in the US.

I wish I had a European vacation coming up soon; I'd stash a few sets in my suitcase and bring 'em over for ya'.

Frostee,

what exact set of TI do you put on your F112, pray tell?

FYI ,gilded, I only saw the Spectrum Bronze SB211 set (.011 - .052) on S&B for 12 strings. I don't know if they make another set for 12s.

(not that I won't let Frosty answer for himself! :) )

The funniest (not quite, to say the truth) thing is that is the recommended price for ALL the EU, including Austria...

Anyway, Wien, the Capital of the Empire, is a beautiful town to visit, but if you come here to make business, I've the impression that you'll be more confortable to sit in the States...the only european product that is less expensive here and that you may find of some interest are the Furch guitars.

I think Chaz is right... there is only one set available for 12 string.

The price did not bother me (when I had employment, anyway... :( ) because I change strings rather infrequently. I don't play the F-112 very much, but I am certain the set has been on there for a couple of years. The steel string guitar I play the most, and gig with, last saw a new set in Dec/Jan timeframe... I think.

Let's say: former Empire (more than 91 years ago);
It's beautiful to visit indeed. And don't forget to tell me before if you ever get here!
(btw: concerning guitar/accessories price-level you're so right! :( )
Markus :D

Edit: I googled Spectrum 12-String set pretty quickly for about 20 Euro; that's pretty close to Strings and Beyond, isn't it?

You know, just rewatched Zurlini's "the desert of the tartars" and I'm pretty convinced that the K.u.K. uniforms were the most stylish ever...and they also had a great musical culture in these years...as far as I remember herr Thomastik and herr Infeld were two imperial officers who remained unemployed after 1919 and they decided to make violin strings...

20 euros?Where?Groenland? :p

I've had a set of ThomasStik Plectrums on the F212 for a month or so based on John Kidder's recommendation. They are expensive; agreed, but extremely well wound, very comfortable, and they sound great. I've got a second set in the wings to put on the JF30 one of these days.
