When I said that Guild strings were exactly D'Addarios, I was specifically referring to the L-350 and M-450 (and E-series electric strings, e.g. E-220, etc.) that were distributed by Guild in the '70s and '80s. I suspect after FMIC bought Guild in 1995, that any Guild-branded strings that were manufactured were actually made by VC. Squier, the company that Fender bought in the mid '60s.
No idea about what gauges they used after FMIC bought them.
