I have someone interested in my Guild F50 and they want to know if the back is laminate.
I looked inside but couldn't tell.
Anyone have an answer for me?
Thanks in advance

Hello Panzade,

Welcome! If your have a Guild F-50SB, not an F-50R-SB, then the back of the instrument is laminated maple.

Sincerely,

All of Guild's arched back guitars are laminated.
This does not distract from the build or value of the guitar.
Some guitar brands use laminated backs on their flat back guitars.
These guitars are normally worth less than all solid built guitars.
Not the case with the arched back Guild.
So yes it has a laminated back but that doesn't lessen it's value.

By the way, the F50R has a solid flat back.
It is worth about $200.00 more than the F-50 maple arched back because of the rosewood.

Amen to what TMG said. Guild uses a big press to form arched backs, and the process requires a laminate. It is, however, a very high quality and expensive laminate. It isn't used to save money.
