In my search for a lighter weight alternative to my X-170's hardshell case I discovered this Access Stage Three bag. It has a rigid frame similar to the TRIC case I got for the CE-100 I recently sold (HardCell foam). I did much searching, and this is the only gig bag I found that has the proper dimensions for the X-170:

Guitar - Case:

16 5/8 - 16 3/4 LB
11 3/4 - 11 3/4 UB
20 1/4 - Body
41 1/4 - 43 1/4 Length
4 7/8 - 6 Headstock
3 1/2 - 3 3/4 Depth

Guitar depth is 2 1/2 at the rims, and about 3 1/2 to 3 3/4 to the top of the bridge.

I bought this case, but was wondering if anyone has any experience with it. It is the ES model.

The bag is in. Initially, I was concerned that the bag may be slightly small, but my X-170 seems to fit, and with no room to spare. Those models with a bigsby probably won't fit as the depth of the case would not be sufficient. This bag would probably be ideal for a Starfire as long as the lower bout is no more than 16 5/8 - 16 3/4.

I have the Stage 5 teardrop bag for my f size acoustic. It's a discontinued model in the closeout section. I'm very happy with it.

Is the hard foam like the inside of a bike helmet? Ive never seen the Tric case up close..
I have a Stage One and that' s like a gig bag, but has sturdy side panels. Its a good case, I would imagine the Stage 3 and 5 are fantastic.

The TRIC case is like the inside of a bike helmet, but the Access case, while very sturdy, is somewhat flexible. It is rigid enough to easily maintain its shape when standing vertically without a guitar, and with the case unzipped.
