As many of you know, I'm an acoustic gal (signature indicates that, huh?). But I came across this video that, for 13 and one-half minutes, had me fondly going down memory lane.....you know, 'like the good ole days.' :) and, I thought you might enjoy it as well. I have no idea if the general consensus is that these are the best 100 riffs of all times...but, it is open for additions and comments. I sure enjoyed them. :D

That's a pretty good collection, but one that's sure to raise debate. (and the reason it was made, I'd guess)

Plenty of Keef stuff there, and rightfully so. And, I'm delighted that Eddie Cochrane made it !

Regretfully, a lot of that stuff just doesn't move me but it sure is an interesting look. Thanks Toni.

Toni ..... 4.55 pm here and I'm sitting listening to great old Stones tracks on the computer ( with decent speakers ). And, a massive electrical storm is right over head.

The Stones I find immensely satisfying to return to, over and over. The Beatles I believe deserved all the kudos heaped upon them and a place in history at the top of the heap. But, as a result of my sixties musical education from a myriad sources I find the Stones the most satisfying of the Big Two to listen to now.

There was never a better reason to turn onto the Stones than their re-make of "It's All Over Now". And, the Riftmeister at his prototypical best.

All these riffs were done on electric guitars except for 2, Pinball Wizard intro (Who) & Summertime Blues (Eddie Cochrin).

I am glad to announce that I mostly enjoy the acoustic sound now. Some of the hard driving guitar riffs were good in the day, but as for me, we experienced far too many visits from the police from unappreciative neighbors who did not appreciate our practicing of these riffs with the band out in the garage.

You sure it was the noise and not the "incense"?

Some nice stuff but I have never heard about 90% before. No need to hear that 90% again …

Well stated Markus ! I felt the same but didn't like to say.
Yep...you can knock a guys car or even his wife or girlfriend...but try knockin' his favorite rock riff or guitar and the gloves come off!
I get pretty tired of the same old tunes endlessly rotated on the "Classic rock" stations here too...
Introduced a buddy to Jimi Hendrix's "Rainbow Bridge" last weekend. He's got 2 years on me and never heard it before. It went out of print a couple of years after release due to royalty disputes. For those of you who ALSO may not know of it, I strongly recommend you seek out "Pali Gap". Then "Dolly Dagger". Trust me on this. 8)

And I'll second "Dolly Dagger" !!

As much as I love a great many other guitarists, I've often thought and still do, that Jimi was number one in a class of one !

But Keef's the Riffmeister !!

adorski,
I have to admit that since I began liking acoustic music, I also no longer imbibe of the incense. And yes, many formerly displeased neighbors certainly figured where there is rock music, there must certainly also be the herb, loud sounds, and hip- or "loose" women. It didn't really fit the sterotypical American dream of "finally made it" with a home in the suburbs for the kids.

A friend of mine is celibrating his recent license for medical Marijuana. But as for me I actually enjoy a clear head.

I have a question. If one had followed a celibate existence for some time and, shall we say, fell off the wagon, would that be cause for celibrating ?

Can you feel the love?

Why "20th Century Boy" for Marc Bolan? "Bang A Gong" is THE T-Rex riff, IMHO.

Heard 99% of all those riffs, just the metal ones are unfamiliar.

When I do fall off the wagon, I'll let you know!
