Hi all,
I recently bought online the guild F-1512 12 string westerly collection and it was delivered at another address (as I requested). The person who collected the guitar proceeded to open the package and try the instrument to check for any damage. On the box it says to let the guitar acclimatise for at least 24h before opening so now I'm scared that the item has been subject to potential damage, especially in the long run. Any thoughts?
Thanks
Paolo

Welcome to LTG! The most common damage is finish checking (cracking), but it depends on how cold the guitar is and how warm the air is in the house. Also, the F-1512 is finished with polyurethane which is much more resistant to checking. It's unlikely any structural damage would happen unless the temperature change was very extreme and sudden.

Post some photos of your new guitar and tell us about how you like it!

Here's some snaps! What do you think of the action?
Regarding the temperatures, i live in england and it wasn't 0° or minus when they delivered it so it should be okay?
Thanks for the reply btw ;)

The action looks good from your pictures, but that's hard to tell without measurements. The question is are you comfortable playing it up and down the neck? If not it looks like you have a lot of saddle to work with, and it's possible that the neck itself needs adjusting with the truss rods.

Anyway very nice! And, welcome aboard, Paolo!

What would the standard action be on a 12 string?
Thanks for the welcome 👋

Beautiful guitar, complimenti! I think a string height of 2.3 to 2.5 mm at the 12th fret would be a good starting point.

It feels good and it looks amazing, the playability is really nice too, as this is my first 12 string i might have to slightly lower the action

It should play like a good 6-string, Paolo. Most people don't know that when they enter the 12-string world and they suffer with bad action until they've had enough then they throw their 12-string in the closet until they sell it.

No bueno.

A 12-string should play like butter when it's set up correctly.
