Agreed, I also never saw a real picture. But as Nuuska pointed out, at least one obviously had one.

Holy crap! That's the first one I've ever seen, and believe me, I've had my eyes out for one! I suspect that it is either a 99J or 100J in piggy bank form. What are the tubes in that?Hey!! I have that amp. Guild badge is long gone and the cabinet was stolen but here is my 99 Ultra Head!!
Can't find a schematic anywhere.
Cheers!
Hiya! Thanks. I can tell you what tubes. 2x 6L6s 5AR4 3x 6EU7. We have looked at 99 J schematics before...but the 6EU7s, just weirdWelcome to LTG and thanks for posting the pic of your 99U! Can you tell us what tubes it uses? It could be that it is the same circuit as one of the Guild combo amps and that could get you to a proper schematic.
so close. everything you said but 6eu7s not 12ax7I would guess that it is a cathode biased pair of 6L6GTs, with three 12AX7s for phase inverter, tremolo, and preamp. Definitely a Baxandal tone stack.
i was under the impression that they were 6 volt instead of 126EU7 is electronically identical to a 12AX7. Maybe a hair cleaner, but not much. It's pretty typical on Gibson amps to convert them to 12AX7s because 6EU7s are quite a bit more expensive anymore.
Photos including that of the circuit board would be much appreciated. Actually this amp deserves its own thread.
6EU7 is 6.3 volt only, but the heaters on a 12AX7 (ECC83) can be wired as either 6.3V (parallel) or 12.6V (series) . Internally they are the same but the pin out is completely different.i was under the impression that they were 6 volt instead of 12
I'll dig up some more photos or take some after my trip to town with cousin Mary.
