That "Big Beat" Thunderbass amp with the cabinet laying horizontal described a feature I failed to recognize in previous reviews. It describes that each of the speakers are isolated in the cabinet and implies that one speaker emphasis bass lower frequencies and the other speaker has a High Pass Filter crossover to emphasize guitar.

I have owned both type of cabinets in the past. The 2-12 can is a smaller sealed cab and the larger cabinet held 2-15's with a rectangle cutout at the bottom of the baffle board.

The smaller 2-12 cab I own didn't have a crossover and used 2-12 bass speakers. I'm wondering if a slightly different cabinet was available with the "Big Beat" feature of 1-12" bass a 1-12" guitar speaker + crossover?

That is kind of a cool feature. It was years later when bass cabs with 10" bass speakers started to add pizeo tweeters or passive crossovers and horns to the bass cabs.

Agreed, I also never saw a real picture. But as Nuuska pointed out, at least one obviously had one.

The 1964 catalog showed the design:

Or under the Sonola brand:

Welcome to LTG and thanks for posting the pic of your 99U! Can you tell us what tubes it uses? It could be that it is the same circuit as one of the Guild combo amps and that could get you to a proper schematic.

Holy crap! That's the first one I've ever seen, and believe me, I've had my eyes out for one! I suspect that it is either a 99J or 100J in piggy bank form. What are the tubes in that?

Hiya! Thanks. I can tell you what tubes. 2x 6L6s 5AR4 3x 6EU7. We have looked at 99 J schematics before...but the 6EU7s, just weird

6EU7 is electronically identical to a 12AX7. Maybe a hair cleaner, but not much. It's pretty typical on Gibson amps to convert them to 12AX7s because 6EU7s are quite a bit more expensive anymore.
Photos including that of the circuit board would be much appreciated. Actually this amp deserves its own thread.

i was under the impression that they were 6 volt instead of 12 😹
I'll dig up some more photos or take some after my trip to town with cousin Mary.

6EU7 is 6.3 volt only, but the heaters on a 12AX7 (ECC83) can be wired as either 6.3V (parallel) or 12.6V (series) . Internally they are the same but the pin out is completely different.
