I took my M20 for the first of three planned days in the studio this week. It sounded tremendous and recorded beautifully, just as I had thought and hoped it would. The funniest moments came when the engineer entered the isolation booth to set up mics for me. He took one look at the M20 and said, "Hey, I have one of those!" He called it, of course, a "Nick Drake guitar." But I know it was an older one, and not one of the current Oxnard models, because he said that the only thing he didn't like about it was that he found it hard to play because of the narrow nut. So I told him that my '64 had a 1 11/16 nut. Yes, he was jealous.
