How 'bout clear vs. black on a nature boy DeLuxe? Does the lighter finish make a difference, compared to Hagmeat's darker walnut refinned S-100 shown above. I like the contrast the black pickguard provides with the light body ...

Plus, the one with the black pickguard is actually mine, whereas the one with the clear pickguard is just a photo used for comparative purposes. And in looking at Hagmeat's again, I might change my vote to clear on his, because the darker finish softens the contrast between pickguard and body. I'm a huge fan of contrast.

For what it's worth -- On these two 1961 Epiphone Wilshires, the tortoise shell pickguard is completely lost on the black one.
