Hello,a couple of years ago I bought my first guild- a black 1971 S-90(bridge/tailpiece combo). It was a little beat up and needed some work, now it is the most playable/best sounding guitar I`ve played. The serial number dates it to `71,but I thought that s-90`s came around in `72. Another thing is the truss rod cover,it has the name duane engraved on it and has been painted over. Do you guys think that it may be a cover from a Duane Eddy model? Anyway, last week I gave in and bought a 1971 S-100 off ebay. The seller was kind enough to ship to Oz and I should have it very soon. It needs some work and I`ll try and post some pictures of it as well as my S-90,when I figure out how to upload the pictures.
cheers.

Sounds like Guild ran out of "standard" truss rod covers that day and had to improvise to get the guitars finished!

Oh, and welcome! The Aussie contingent continues to rise as well as the S-100 Cool Kids Club!

Hey Fab467,she`s a beauty, i see she`s still even got the tailpiece cover- nice!
I hope that my S-100 that`s on the way will turn out just as good.
Cheers

Nice guitar.... (you and Fab both!) How far apart are the serial #'s?
Hey BP. I'll check mine tomorrow after work and let you know. You're not alone in your curiousity...

I`m hoping to keep mine in the family,to think it will be a hundred years old some day-that`s vintage!
Thanks HM. Yours is really stunning in black! It should be interesting to note how near or far apart they are after we compare serial numbers. :D

Well, they are from the same batch, but since they are a different color, they didn't get their serial numbers real close to each other so they're 22 numbers apart.

Sincerely,
