Rich, There are others with more knowledge than me, but I would pay between $2,500-2,800 for a F512. That being said, I checked Reverb sold's for "Very Good" condition ones and the sold prices were $3,299 and $3,350. (There was also one that said $11,799, but I suspect that has to be a misprint). So under 3k seems in the ballpark. The question may be what else needs to be done besides a neck reset-Frets, nut, bridge, etc. Again, others that deal with older models may have more insight than me. Good luck...And look forward to NGD post! Dave

A neck reset on an F512 is never going to be $325, unless you have a very good friend. Realistically, it you do the work properly, it will include at least a partial refret, and fretboard planing. Figure on at least $7-800 for all that work. Even at a staring point of $2000, I wouldn't think it's a good buy.

Also, if it is the one on reverb now, I would not say a pickguard crack is "typical." Could be an easy cleat a glue, or a sign of other issues (other than the reset)...

How long ago was that?

You might get lucky, and just need a simple reset, but more often than not, fretboard planing and refrets are necessary to really do the job properly. Around here, that's $7-800 of work, and my luthier is one of the more reasonable ones.

That's a great price for a neck reset, but not that great a price at $3,000. This one in reportedly excellent condition went for $2875. After that, yeah, a number (surprisingly) sold for $3,000 and up. I say surprisingly because I was just checking on F412s and they were fairly consistently less than $3,000 (though there aren't that many of them). And I kinda prefer the arched maple backs....
