Saw that this morning... that's awfully late for BRW (New Hope has a '72 that Jay I'Ds as BRW), and the grain looks more "East Indian" to me. A little on the orange/red side... but color can be deceiving (very camera, monitor, and photoshop dependent). I was tempted this AM to ask the seller what they based the BRW ID on, whether they could document it, and if they would refund the difference in "value" (~$2500 between their asking price and a more "mundane" EIR D-50) if it was found to be EIR... but decided it wasn't worth my effort...

Although it does look pretty clean (we have already "beat to death" the meaning of "mint" in another thread) nicks and dings-wise, that saddle looks pretty low to me. Not much of a break angle, even on the bass side. It might be a candidate for a neck reset sooner, rather than later... (and the treble side of the nut is chipped out).

I think my recently acquired '76 has more interesting figure to the back, and at ~1/4 the cost:

The "wavy horizontal pattern" across the middle of the back is a reflection of my kids toys... you can almost read the label on the reflection of the LEGO tub.

I don't claim to be an expert by any means. However, I always seem to notice the color green in BRW, if I look at it long enough. I don't see that in this one.

Gorgeous guitar, though, whatever the wood.

I must admit I'm always a bit flummoxed by this one. I've sorted through a stack of Brazillian when I was choosing wood for my Guitar. There was quite a lot of variation amongst it, from purply swirly hues to light and sandy. I chose a light coloured piece that had a beautiful spicy taste to it. To be honest once it's made up into a guitar I very much doubt that I could tell if it were Brazilian or East Indian if I didn't know beforehand. It seems to me that a lot people think that if it's swirly it's Brazilian ?

NB I didn't see any greenish hues in any of the Brazillian I was looking through...
