I spend too much time fiddling with knobs and switches. . I like simple, less is usually better for me.

The 2 mini toggles on mine are for phase and bypass. I have to relearn the guitar everytime I pick it up.

edit/correction: The more I play this guitar the more those little toggles confuse me. I think I was wrong by stating one was a bypass, its clearly not. I think it is wired like matsickmas was, in/out phase of Neck/Middle and in/out phase of Bridge/Middle.

This one is up for grabs. I have a 1960 Starfire II that I am after. Its real nice, not perfect, but real nice!!

When you hold this guitar it feels like new. It has a big chunky neck and the frets are like new. Has a few finish checks, and some minor scratch marks around the low E string tuning machine... but overall its excellent.

$1000 + shipping and paypal fees.

I don't have any money right now to buy it, but if you mail it to me I'll be happy to document the electronics. :)

S-70 - Worth Buying?

This one is currently for sale and I'm wondering if it is worth buying it. The few things that I was able to find on the sound seemed to say that it was a poor imitation of a strat. On the other hand, he is selling it for $300 and I've seen a few cases where these were sold for more. It would give my M-75 some company. If I bought it then it would be more as an "investment" than anything. These seem to be pretty rare but It isn't clear that there is much of a market for them. Almost nothing on eBay, current or completed.

Thoughts on the tone, the value and the demand?

Just sold my CS Gibson and closed a deal on a S60D! It's been modded a bit but it comes with all the original parts (pups, tuners) too. I will make a test report once I've fiddled with it a bit.

A S-70 for $300 is a great deal. I don't know why these arn't that popular. Great sounding guitar. Not a Strat sounding guitar. The SD superdistortion single coils are not as bright as a Strat. More of a growl. I modified mine so that I can get the counterwound sound between the neck/bridge pickup. I also didn't the sound of the out-of-phase single coils so I inserted a POT on the bridge pickup so that the volume goes from half onto full on. This added the capability to vary the amount of out-of-phase with this POT. Only problem I have is feedback at higher volume. I need to wax pot the pickups-someday.
