There is a 1981 Starfire IV with OHSC at Twin Town Guitars in Minneapolis for $1,250. I'd post a photo, but then the link would be pretty useless, because all it has is the photo and the price.

Consider it done. I'll head on over at lunchtime. Report and photos to come.

Late to the party. OK, if the guitar report is good and if Qvart & L.A. pass, I'll buy it. 8)

TF said he would stop by there during lunch today. Awaiting the verdict...

I got an email from TF right when I posted this. So....

It's always nice having someone who can stop by for a first-hand look. Based on the pics (feel free to post them, TF) I'm going to have to pass. 'tis a pity. If it was in better shape I'd plunk down the cash immediately. But that headstock is in rough condition. The frets look like they may have enough left to work with, but someone did a number on them (judging by the edges - bad dressing job it looks like). IMHO, way overpriced. Someone else can try to bargain them down and snag a project.

Thanks again Thunderface.

My pleasure. I'll post the photos when the connectivity issues are cleared up. It is too bad about the chipped finish and condition of the frets because it sounded good and everything worked.

Aw shucks.

As promised, the photos. I might also point out that Twin Town had 13 new and one used Guild acoustics on display. I was on a mission to see the Starfire IV for Qvart, so I didn't get a chance to check them out.

I'm going to pass, too.

Too many projects going on for me to justify adding to the stack.

I'm reaching the point where I'm realizing that the sting of poor condition lasts far longer than the thrill of a good deal.

Aint that the truth! especially down here............Too true!
Still, Those "burst from that 79-81 period are just so beautiful. LTG member 'Cajun' has a similiar one ( in Beautiful condition) as this one.

How true! Darned shame on the condition as this color & year SFIV is exactly what I've been wanting

Looks like the price has been reduced. Just a couple more similar cuts and Qvart might be interested again.
