A Guild model similar to the Gibson L-50? … X-Series?

I like my Gibson L-50 but I'm interested in what a comparable guild model would be if that's possible. Did Guild ever make an archtop without pickups installed?

I can't help you on your question, which I would like to know myself. I can't believe the Guild Gurus here hadn't come up with an answer for you in all this time :? .

Can't help with the L-50, but Guild acoustic archtops:
A-50 Granada
A-350 Stratford
A-500/A-550 Stuart
CA-100 Capri
Johnny Smith/Artist Award
A-150 Savoy
These were all acoustic archtops with no pickups installed. Some were available or came standard with a floating pickup and some were very similar to models with installed pups.

As a non-cutaway, the A50 may be about as close an analog to an L50 as Guild made:

My A50 experience is very limited (I've only ever played one), but I'm familiar with L50s. The A50 neck fit my hand better. Unfortunately the sound of the one I played was uninspiring but it may have been atypical.

Thanks all, for the helpful replies! I wouldn't be averse to a cutaway like the CA-100 but yes, the A-50 looks pretty close to the Gibson L-50. My hunt begins. More than usual this sounds like a guitar I'd want to try before I'd buy.

The A-50 has a laminated top......most Gibson L-50's have solid spruce tops.
You might enjoy the sound of an A-50, but its a difference you might want to be aware of.

Otherwise they are both of similar comfortable 16" size and share the same scale length.

The 16" cutaway Guild CA-100 has a solid spruce top and a laminate back.
It also has a shallower body than an L-50, at least thats the way my '61 was built. It sounds to me more like an older Epiphone Zenith or Blackstone than it does most L-50s I've owned or played. Good balance with not much depth in the bass, but punchy mids and trebles with lots of projection.

Thanks ziz, the issue of a laminated top is certainly something to consider.
