Yes, I know Lauderdale and Meridian. I had an uncle that was a preacher in the Meridian area, and his oldest son was in a high school band with Hartley Peavy about the time he built his first guitar amp way back when. My favorite song they did back then was "Ferry Crossed the Mercy". I bet you rember that one.

Hoover was the brand-name of a now-ancient vacuum cleaner, perhaps not in the U.S. of A. English geezers will know what I'm talking about.

Hence, my expression, as in gobbling up the vittles with the gutso of a vacuum-cleaner !

It'd be bloody good, wouldn't it West !!

Even without the topless beer wenches. Darryl would probably agree; my vision has him being kneed between the big toes by one of them !

I'm surprised there are Hoover vacs in NZ. Or any vacs, for that matter.

And I wouldn't want to see beer wenches with athlete's knee.

Yes Coastifier, it would be a great time. I've taken the liberty of securing 100 plane tickets for LTG members for the party. Would you be so good as to pick us up at the airport?

Oh and Coastie, see if the woman police officer from the Northern Island will be available for Darryl that night. You remember the one that I read the article in the local newspaper about? I hear she has a thing for toucan jock straps. Ask her to bring "the kit".

Well guys, I made it to the reunion and managed to get on stage with these guys. They are not normally a band, my cousin just called them each and asked them to play. So they rehearsed about 20 minutes.

Before I get hammered, the guy's case in front of me is against the front rail, so I stood kinda behind it. I did not know any of the songs, which were Old Time and Gospel. They didn't play any Bluegrass flatpicking tunes.

Seven chords and a capo and I was in!! It was a blast and my Mom's face was worth it.

These are the kind of jams I wish we had here in California. I haven't found one yet. There are a few bluegrass festivals that I never seem to be able to get to, and quite a few open mikes where too many people are hoping to be discovered, so they don't do much jamming. But a down-home party like this in Misssisspi, and the one John Kidder posted from British Columbia doesn't seem to happen around here. Maybe one day if I get a back yard big enough to be mowed with something other than the weed-whacker I use now, I'll host one myself!

Thanks for posting this , Mr P~ !

Guildmark,

Like in Field Of Dreams, "You build it and they will come!"

I will go back next year, and I will have some songs memorized so I can sing one.

I felt a little special because our club leader has hammered us with doing the proper bass rotation when playing songs lilke this, and neither of these players were doing the rotations.

The guy on the far right of the picture had a Martin D-35 that was less than a year old. He came over after we stopped and said, "what is that guitar, it really puches through."
