The dreaded binding-finish cracks returned late in 09. I struggled with the decision but ultimately sent my D50 back to Nashville again.
It's been there since the 1st of March. I was told by the Fender rep that it could take up to 5 months to get it back. "Sigh"!!!
I'm not sure how they "fixed" it last time, but I wonder if it's something a buffer could have fixed? I doubt they actually refinished the guitar. Not sure what they'll do this time. I wish I could get more information about how they actually plan to resolve the issue this time......
Just had to share my pain.. Thanks for listening :x
CurtO,
I feel your pain. My D50 is at the Nashville shop for what I thought was a warranty neck reset since the end of February, and then I receive this email today:
"Hi Sandy,
We received your D50 and working on your quote for repair. I just need to confirm your return shipping address and I can complete the quote for your approval.
Thanks,
Thane Shearon
Manager, Nashville Service Operations"
I must admit that I'm a little concerned, because if I thought that Fender wouldn't warranty the neck reset, I probably would have had my local luthier (who I
love) do it. I hope he's just talking about incidentals like fretboard replaning/other fret work/new saddle/return shipping, so I'm just taking a wait-and-see approach.
