Yep. I saw this...
Then then others showed up on my feed. I sent the young lady a question about which whistle she played, because I couldn't find the one she listed. Turns out is was a "mezzo A" whistle. In the mean time I watched tutorials and found a review of one in A that I liked. So, I bought it from a shop in Ireland.
There is a review video lower on the page. He uses a word that I have not found. Effortless. Making sure the holes are fully covered and getting the breath pressure is correct, since how hard your blow changes the octaves, is far from effortless from this beginner's view. Both issues make more squeaks that a nervous teenage boys voice when it's changing.
I'll let you know when I can play " Concerning Hobbits " with ease.
You can pick up the tried and true beginger whistle, theClark Sweatone for about $15. I got one to practice on, before the A whistle showed up. There are a number of whistle you can get between the 15 bucks one to the 115 bucks one I now have, so it's not an expensive instrument to get into. I hope I can get a good grip on the basics.
