I'm not as familiar with these two models. Correct me if I'm wrong, please. The A50 & A25 were less expensive fingerpicking-style models from the late 90s.
A50 - spruce top and rosewood back and sides. A25 - spruce top with laminated mahogany back and sides. Available with high gloss or hand-rubbed finishes.

Has anyone owned or played these models? And what did you think?

I have an A50 flat top and love it. A highly underrated small body with a rich tone and sustain. Some people do not like it because it can be a little dark sounding. However, 80/20’s help a lot. Note the neck width is slightly wider than 1-3/4, more like 1-13/16 on mine.

There are a few more threads about those two models on the forum. I did one comparing to an F30R I also had when I bought the A50.

Ahh, here is my original review

Also, the A25 is all solid wood, and is the only model of the pair that was available in a hand rubbed finish. All the A50s are gloss if I recall correctly.

Correct. From the 1996 catalog:

I had an A25 HG for a bit. Small body guitars just don't do it for me. It was a pretty little thing.

Are all three of those the same size? It looks like the HR has a bigger lower bout and the other two are the same size with the A50 being a bit more blingy.

No, A25 had solid 'hog sides and back, it's a flatback. Both had 1-3/4 size nuts. They filled the F30 slot for about 18 months but weren't well received, and the F30 was revived.

Purely a perspective thing and those 2 guitars in the background may not even originally have been in the same pic. ;)

I bought an A50 Sunburst (see profile picture) on December 13 1995, serial number ends in 0003. The A50 (at least mine) has ebony fingerboard and bridge, snow-flake inlays, gold plated Kluson (or Kluson repro) tuners. The A25 had rosewood bridge and fingerboard with dot inlays, and chrome hardware. I played a few A25s and didn't like them much, but the A50 is a great little guitar for me. Good for fingerpicking, and has a darkish bark, sort of like some arch-top guitars have.
