And oh that girl could sing. This is 65 years ago, when she was 23:

1947 Hit Parade

Holy smokes.....she released a new album last year....she still has it all.....wow......!....I'm impressed... :D Steffan http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jykW6d6A ... re=related

Now I read in some of the comments that these were recorded in the 80s, well...........so what.....I'll take the sentimental journey, anytime.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ot_1MHbF ... re=related
This was recorded 40 years earlier, and the voice is beautiful...throughout....and that is something....

She was just on Fresh Air with Terry Gross the other night for an interview, perhaps a week old. Sounds like a very nice lady...the same voice I remember from all those years ago, "sigh..."

Slightly off topic, but, six degrees of separation (or less) from a Nobel prize.
Eli Chalfie, big band banjo/guitarist was the music director at WLW in Cincinnati in 1939 when he hired Doris Kappelhoff (lying about her age) as a singer. Eli's son, Marty, won the Nobel Prize for chemistry in 2008. So Doris Day (nee Kappelhoff) has, however tenuous, a connection with the Nobel Prize.

Doris was hot, but Bridgette Bardot was steamin'! Of course, she's a youngster compared to Doris, only 78.
