So far, up in northern California, the only effects have been some wind and a welcome 20 degree drop in temperature.

I was in touch with a friend last night, south in the Joshua Tree area who said they got 3 inches of rain but that he heard the Death Valley area was predicted to be transformed by floods.

For those in its path, hang in there!

Nawww... it's okay. Some rain and my sister lives in Cardiff (North San Diego country) and they got some rain.... inland I guess they had some trouble. I was expecting a huge thing.... serious rain, followed. Then yesterday was drizzle and now today spotty clouds and a bunch of wind.... So WHO GOT THE STORM???

It didn't live up to the hype at my house. Of course I'm a ridge of mountains and 100 miles from LA. Sure it was a good rain, but nothing to right home about.

Now, on the other side if a few mountains, Check out a mud slide in Oak Glen.

And after that...

Here in coastal NorCal, we got humid air and enough rain to wet the street but then quickly dry up.

Basically a non-event for us.

We're hoping for a good rain from Hilary's remnants way up here in North Idaho, but she has so far basically missed us. Forecast for rain today is 100%. Haven't seen it yet. At least she has redirected the smoke from over in Washington. It was pretty bad the last couple days.

Some power outages down here in southwest due to Hillary which has extended our monsoon season a bit. We got a bunch of rain for 90 mins last night, crazy loud thunder storm but not power outage. Our temp was 71 degrees for a bit, which is unheard of right now out here.

The air cleared and it rained pretty hard here last night, and this morning, a chilly 57º right now, and somberly dark. Wasn't just our smoke but also from the Kelowna fire in BC, probably the worst smoke we're ever seen.

Another crazy Canadian fire, the Crater Fire, 54,000 acres, jumped the border in the Okanagan Valley west of us which puts us in it's path with typical south west winds, adding to the smoke.

Both Spokane County fires to the east and north of us went over 10,000 acres each, a 32 mile span of I90 was eventually closed, burned trees falling in the roadway.

I believe it's reopened today after some other incident teams took over. "Personnel: 400; 47 Engines, 7 Crews, 9 Dozers, 11 Water Tenders"

Yeah, we thought we might get spared from wildfire smoke this season, but..... no. It did finally rain here pretty good today.

Sunny with clear skies and back to triple digit temps again here in Northern California.
