Are these the same F-40s?

Both of these are currently listed on Reverb. One is in Indianapolis, and the other in Paris Illinois. Ads are completely different, but they appear to be the same guitar. Right? Can anyone explain thus? Both listings started within the last two weeks.

You really need to give us the links. They are not the same pictures which means if there is a scam it is a deeper one than usual. The one case makes me think New Hartford and my sense was the New Hartford was pretty consistent so they could have two bursts that are hard to tell apart.

Instead of us trying to explain why they are different perhaps you could explain why you think or fear they are the same?

Fwiw, Paris and Indy are about an hour and forty minutes from each other - could
be same guitar and or same seller.

E-type, you should give Sam Ash in Hicksville a call. They have been a reputable dealer, or certainly used to be. Possibly the ad is stale and Sam Ash sold it off already... Interesting that with the IL seller they've included the serial number (C217273), so you can find out whether or not it's the same guitar.

Definitely the pickguard material is identical, and the burst looks like it too. Plus there's a small variation in the grain visible in both on the top (bass side) that I see. I would guess these are the same guitar.

Oh, and while the ad says (Indianapolis, IN), the Sam Ash dealer is in New York. And the Sam Ash ad is 5 days ago for $1700 while the Illinois ad s from 12 days ago for $1,995. I was thinking someone got a good deal and was trying to flip it, but then why is the older price the higher price.

Yes, I may well give the Sam Ash a call tomorrow just to solve the mystery.

Hicksville NY is their corporate headquarters. The title will show the Sam Ash dealer where the item is located.

Now that the brain fog has lifted, the case does not indicate New Hartford as I asserted and the additional information ("humidicase") does indicate Oxnard.

The Steve's listing says "Original pickgaurd has been replace with custom Gibson style." Are these pictures before or after that?

As a veer when I went to https://reverb.com/item/66953736-gu...are&utm_campaign=listing&utm_content=66953736 there was a F40 review that really was a negative review of Tundra Music, not the instrument. Tundra gets mixed reviews on LTG.

If this is the same F40 there are two obvious possibilities:

Steve decided he could not get his price, sold it to Sam Ash to raise quick cash and failed to update his listing.

Steve found it in Sam Ash, bought it to flip, and Sam Ash failed to update their inventory in a timely fashion.

Given corporate bureaucracies I vote for the latter but since people are making phone calls my speculation will soon be unnecessary.

I messaged Sam Ash. Didn’t respond to the serial number, but did say that they do indeed still have the guitar. I’m now guessing the Paris seller sold it off to Sam Ash, but still has the ad up.

Cool. Hey, jump on it man. Are you interested or just curious? Looks great (if you're a 'burst lover, that is)!

Sam Ash will treat you right no matter what the story is. If there's a problem with the guitar, they'll stand behind it.

These f-40s are too big sounding for what I’m doing right now. But I hope to get one someday…and one with a Guild pick guard, not a Gibson one!
