Hi folks,

Does anyone of the 'old-timers' remember the photo shoot that was done with all the vendors that had attended since the earliest days of the show? It may have been the 25th year, but maybe it was the 20th. I went so many times in a row, that I don't remember what year it actually was. It may have been for 'Vintage Guitar Magazine' and I believe the group shot was published in the magazine.

Anyway, I never saw the actual photo and I'm curious if anyone remembers it and may have a copy of the magazine that he/she could make a scan of.

Sincerely,

Hans Moust

Sorry, Hans. I had a long running subscription to Vintage Guitar magazine & kept a large stack for reference, but eventually let them all go. Great magazine, but their initial super-sized format took up a lot of space!

OK, I got the word from Ward at Vintage Guitar Magazine and he found the photos in their files. The date was 2004, so it must have been the 20th show. I hope they can come up with higher resolution photos than the ones they did send me for verification.

Hans,

A man named Steven Stone, the mando player, was the journalist that I remember from Vintage Guitar. I remember his incredible playing one night behind the hotel, and remember him posting a couple of pictures from inside the "Yacht Club" behind the hotel in Vintage Guitar, but wouldn't have a clue about his taking pictures of vendors. Harry (Gilded), having been a vendor at the show, might remember such a picture posted in Vintage Guitar. I do have a copy (somewhere) of the issue of Vintage Guitar Magazine with the story that Steve Stone wrote and if I can locate the magazine, and a picture of the vendors, I'll post it up for you.

Hello West,

Yes, I remember Steven Stone and I'm familiar with the article and the photos he made. I'm not sure if this was the same year as the photo shoot, but if it was 2004 then it was the same year that the photo shoot was done. And as I posted already (posting # 3) I've already heard back from Ward at Vintage Guitar Magazine and he did send me photos from that shoot.

I do not need the photo for publishing purposes. Just wanted to check my memory as far as trying to remember the faces of some of the people that I had exchanged info with during my research for the Guild Guitar book.

I have not been to the Arlington Show for some time. When I went to the show for the first time during the mid-‘80s I was one of the youngsters. Quite a few of the vendors from that period are no longer alive or they are not really active in the business.

Lucky for me there is the internet, so I’m still in contact with some of them, but I do miss meeting with and talking to these folks on a regular basis.

Anyway, thanks for thinking with me.

Sincerely,

Yes sir, you're welcome. And if it was '04 that the shoot you're referring to was done, then no, our first Arlington LTG get together was '07 I think. But since then, they are back to hosting the thing in Arlington again as opposed to the last few years in Fort Worth. Maybe we can meet there again one day before either of us buy the farm.😊
