The current avatar size is set to 80x80 (the default on vB as I recall). Would it be possible to make it larger so that we could use the same avatars we had on the old site? My old avatar is 125x83.

I've run a vB site for years, so I can help if need be.

Thanks!

It seems that my avatar was automatically resized, because I did nothing to change the size when I submitted mine.
It also appears that everyone's avatar is the same size, whereas some used to be smaller/larger, if I recall correctly.

*Check that....yours is bigger than mine. D'oh!

Just pondering, ;)

Currently here the limitation is: "The maximum size of your custom image is 80 by 80 pixels or 19.5 KB (whichever is smaller)." Checking Grot's Avatar here it shows 80x80 pixels and 2.858KB. So yes, try uploading a larger pixel size and see what happens. I guess as long as the picture is below 19.5KB you are fine.

I had to resize my avatar to get it to load. Kurt must just be special, as we've suspected all along.

Given the piddling new size constraint, I can't be bothered posting one, or even figuring out how to do it !!
You made it here! :)
I was worried! Seriously!
It's really pretty much the same as the "old place" as far as setting it up, only 500 bytes less file size allowed (the old one was 20kb), and that does seem to be the real limiting factor, here.
I just dislike that they are actually smaller in display and too much detail gets lost.
Poor Chairman Meow or the panther might unrecognizable.
I was thinking, in your case, a banana might be quite apropos.
It works on so many levels, symbolically.

I tried to upload my old ani gif several times and kept getting an error "file too large". After I downloaded the same gif from a different source it uploaded easily even though it had a full 19 frames. It's smaller in size and only 9 kb.

Even though it looks like the others aren't there, they really are. If you leave your mouse over the ones that look like they are bad pics, you will see what they are, and they will show up in your post.:)

I know I can resize it, but the small avatars are just too small to show any real detail. It's the difference between these two:

Guildsby-80.jpg

I also dislike 1:1 photos, but that's my own cross to bear. :)

My name, things I say, where I live (and the State of Texas emblem) are so small (gosh, Texas and small in the same sentence seems wrong somehow :::teehee:::)), it's hardly worth using this avatar.......which is one my most favorites EVER! :( C'est la guerre!;)

So we're at war? I KNEW it! :)

Seriously, though, any chance we can go back to the old rectangular, slightly larger avatar sizes? I can help with where to do that in the vB software if need be.
