- do you play solo - or in a loud band?
- if in a band - is it soft or loud volume?
- etc etc
This is huge. if you're playing solo, you want the guitar to take up as much sonic space as possible. the denser the mix, and louder, the thinner the slice of the spectrum you want to occupy. Which is why that Ovation/piezo sound worked so well for some folks, but is loathed by others.

If you have something that works for you, let no one talk you out of it. We have different instruments and different disposable incomes. There is no solution the is both awe dropping and affordable. And once you cross a line, you'll never be happy going back. When I bought a K&K equipped guitar, I really tried to like it. Same with my Santa Cruz and the Element. My Dazzo SunnAudio combination works great, but is $500 and change. Like many things in life, money can solve many issues.

My fear is that I'll never buy a sub $5000 guitar again. Then again, I'm 73. But there was a time a Dean Markly soundhole pickup worked fine.

I am very interterested in the new Baggs Hifi pickup. It being so new, I'm not sure I trust anyone local to install it. I would use it with my aging aura pedal, or I might even spring for a Baggs Voiceprint pedal, even though it has no battery option.
