It's the single truss rod, Chazmo. Don't know if that had any impact on this or not. But it was built after they abandoned the dual truss rod concept, though I see there are places on the Guild website where they're still claiming dual truss rods.
Very interesting.... I hate to think that Tacoma's QA didn't scrutinize your guitar VERY carefully as one of the early, new necks... Apparently, this got through somehow.

I'm pretty sure all new ones are being made this way now, count (you can ignore the Guild website), including all the -412 and -512s made in New Hartford since mid-2009... I know I've played a couple since the change, including a Tacoma that had no issues.

Good luck.

Hmmm. I didn't know that Tacoma had switched to single rods. I thought that started at NH.

Hey, Jazzy... Indeed. I think the change order to do the new necks occurred sometime in 2008 production. It wasn't very long before Tacoma production ceased. Possibly, it was the last change they implemented out there. I'm not 100% sure of those facts, but I am certain the neck change preceded the New Hartford move.

I don't think it was any specific oversight. My luthier buddies have shown me Martins, Gibsons, Taylors, and a variety of other volume manufacturers who have built the guitars with an imperfect neck angle. My own Westerly DV-6 was built that way, back in 1997. So it happens, rare as though it may be, but it does happen.
