Hey gang,

I was just looking up some specs on the Oxnard D-20, and I found the following on Guild's web site. It appears you can order guitars through the following online retailers:

Sweetwater,
Musician's Friend,
Guitar Center,
Chicago Music Exchange.

I don't know if this was discussed elsewhere here, but being able to order Oxnard builds on these big online stores is both great and scary from my point of view. I know New Hartford could never consider Guitar Center, for example, as a distributor because they couldn't make the production numbers work. Guitar Center usually lets you order online for a local store delivery, for example, and with normal GC return policy. And, I think this opens up the market for folks to get their hands on some great Guilds that would otherwise not have access to them since GC is everywhere.

Anyway, though this may be old news for some of you, I think this is great. I hope it works out for CMG.

The website also shows American Music Supply. I just bought my F-40 Traditional from AMS.
Interestingly the website shows different online vendors depending on where you look. I saw the ones I mentioned above when I was looking specifically at the D-20 ( https://guildguitars.com/g/d-20-in-natural/ ). When I follow the dealer link ( https://guildguitars.com/dealer-locator/ ) I get a different list (doesn't include GC in that list but has others). Weird. Bug with the site? Anyway, point stands. :)

The deal for companies is they always need to juggle units sold vs. units paid for. The more money Guild is owed the more leverage someone like Guitar Center has to slow pay. In the low profit business I was in, if we got paid on time (30 days) we made a little money. If we got paid 30 days late (60 days) we broke even. After that, we lost. At some point you have the tail wagging the dog. So selling 1000 guitars does you no good if you can't collect in a timely manor and might have to borrow to pay your vendors. So maybe things change as far as vendors due to basic business decisions.

IIRC GC actually always retained the GAD line, or else they got it shortly after Sam Ash became a dealer back in the great Fender dealer shuffle of early NH.

IIRC Frono's and others' observations correctly, there was a period when a dealer had to buy a mixed product across all Guild lines, they couldn't opt to only carry US-made product, but that was also relaxed during NH era.

Maybe keeping a relationship with GC by letting 'em stock only the GAD line turned out to be a desirable proposition. So maybe those different dealer lists do vary according to product line as you say.

Seem to recall GC did "list for pre-order" some early Oxnard product, but kinda suspect getting an Oxnard through 'em would be more of a toothpull than from a regular stocking dealer like Sweetwater, if in fact GC can order a US built guitar..

Hi All, new to LTG
I just joined because I’m looking for a new f512 maple-blonde
I’ve checked all these big online retailer’s and they are sold out
Does anyone know of some smaller shops that keep good inventory?
Thanks so much

You left out Elderly for online shops. They don't show a F512 currently.
Eddies in St. Louis has an F512 on reverb talk to Matt, he knows his guitars. Other shops on reverb have them also.

Nitro, welcome aboard. I don't know if we have any other Arkansas members to help you find a local shop, but a call to Guild customer service might be in order (if you're sure you want to buy new, that is).

You've tried Sweetwater and Musician's Friend?

Having said that, consider a post in our Want To Buy section. That'd be for used equipment, but that's hardly a negative when you speak to most of us. :) Best of luck.

@chazmo thanks for a quick reply. I would love to find a pre owned one. The buy sell rules said I need 10 (posts) to post, so I’m not wanting to push my luck first day. Sweetwater is out of stock as well as GC/musicians friend.
I’ve missed a couple jf30-12’s on reverb and just yesterday a b-stock customer return from pro audio star out of New York.
I put in a request through the guild website for help locating one as well.
Hopefully I can connect eventually.

Thanks @chazmo, one more post!
Welcome. Since you read the rules I'll be glad to help you make 10 by giving you an easy chance to comment.

We get all sorts of interesting reports on the availability of new Guilds made in Oxnard. Some places have them, some don't and the logistics make it hard predict. But we can widen your search...

@Tom O eddies’ f512 is sunburst. I’m holding out for blonde maple no electronics
Reverb has one in Canada. Last time I imported a guitar from Canada I got hit pretty hard with duties.

Welcome aboard. Please reply. (We're nothing if not a bunch of hardcore enablers around here. :))
In fact you could even reply several times if you like, now that we know what the scoop is. Nobody'll fault you for that. :)

Actually a little surprised there's a WTB post minimum, thought it only applied to sellers, to help keep sellers from using this place like a free listing service.;)

It's "forum" based and not "prefix" based. I didn't write the code, so that's the way it is. :)

@adorshki thanks for the welcome
Enabling me is much appreciated. I’m new to Guild but have admired them for a long while
Hopefully I’ll be able to find a nice one. I just started playing in my churches band and a guild would fit right in. It’s a cowboy church so cowboy chords are required!
