So I’ve just put a Bigsby bridge assembly on my Newark Street Starfire III and the saddle is almost at the top of the posts - there’s maybe 1/8” of an inch of post in the saddle. I thought I’d just be able to unscrew the posts and put longer ones in but there’s some kind of insert and tamper proof headed screw. Anyone know of a longer post aluminium bridge base? Or a workaround? Or am I worrying about nothing and they’re all like this?
Thanks in advance

You cant find a screwdriver type to match the "tamper proof"? Pics would help.

I have seen people add a rosewood "base" under the Bigsby bridge base to get some extra height.

Come to think of it, I think Hans did that very thing on one of my best friends' old Gretsch Duo Jet!

I'm not 100% sure, but I think you can get a (Gretsch related) aluminium Bigsby saddle that matches a tune-a-matic's post spacing. With one of those, you can use the rosewood base that came on your guitar - I think that sounds better than the all metal thing too.

If it's the same guy that I'm thinking of (the one who moved to the US to try and work as a professional musician) that must have been at least 10 years ago; maybe as much as 15 years, I forgot!

But yes, I've done quite a few of those over the years. Here's a photo of one I did not too long ago.

It was a Guild X-160 Rockabilly and the owner wanted an old style Bigsby bridge, compensated for a wound G-string, instead of the 'improved' version that came on the guitar originally.
