Let's going to stay with Buddy and his SFIV, then. Here is Buddy himself. No concerns. Just him and his soul.
Buddy Guy: I Smell a Rat
This recording was made in October 31, 1979 in Toulouse, France. IIRC, Buddy was on tour and someone said "Hey, why don't you record something?".
The band was composed by: Phil Guy on rhythm guitar, JW Williams on bass guitar and Ray "Killer" Allison on drums.
As a matter of fact, here you have a few pics of Buddy and his SFIV, although after hearing the song, there is no doubt of what kind of guitar Buddy was playing:
Stone Crazy - Front,
Stone Crazy - Inner,
The Blues Giant - Front
This recording was released with different names: first as
The Blues Giant in France and then, as
Stone Crazy by Alligator Records...
All the best,
B.
P.S. As a side note: this recording is one of the great reasons for my interest in Guild and the SFIV. That tone... Although I'm aware of without Buddy, that sound is unlikely to be produced. Nonetheless, that's some kind of goal...
