Hi All

I'm on the lookout for a case for the 73 M-75 GS solid body I just picked up from Treem. I could go with either an aftermarket or OHSC, whichever will treat the guitar well, hold up to getting thrown in trunks and the like, and is affordable. I was looking at an SKB-56 LP case, but the guitar's specs seem a little out of line with that case and I'm hesitant to buy before knowing that someone else has had success with that or another case. Anyone here have recommendations for a case for this old beauty?

Thanks - Steve

Okay. I guess it's time for me to ask what NGD stands for!

My new baby, the 1973 M-75 GS (a great picture taken by Treem)...

And my trusty 1979 (a not so great picture I took a long time ago)...

I will try to take a nice shot of the two of them together with my little Gibson G-8 ("The Cap'n Juan Special") later today and get it posted.

Okay - Two Birds!

The story - I bought the 97 almost two years ago and in that moment switched from being a strat player to a Guild BB player. The 97 is my primary gigging and practice axe. About a year ago I bought a near flawless 66 Starfire V and while I loved it, it wasn't really suited to the music or environments I was playing. In short, it wasn't getting played at all. I've had an ongoing interest in getting an M-75 and Treem and I found each other when he went public with his desire for a Starfire. I frickin' love the way the M-75 feels. Its smaller and more slender body style (as compared to the 97) allows me to throw it around as I play, like I did with my Strat. This is something I missed with my 97 BB, though I was willing to sacrifice it for the tone that guitar gives me. I am really fired up to bring this guitar on stage at my next gig! It debuts in my band room tonight. I can't wait to hear it with my full gear setup.

And again - suggestions for cases for either of these guitars would be appreciated.

And can you tell I'm in to tobacco sunburst?

Yeah, I think it's a real win-win deal. Two great, vintage Guilds in the possession of owners who will love, play, and treat them well!

And thanks for bringing me up to speed on the NGD acronym.

A cool guitar, AfterGlo. I was watching Treem's Bluesbird since he posted it in the For Sake section and on Craigslist and wondered how it managed to not get sold that long.

I was thinking it'll be 2-3 days max and then whoosh, it's gone. Glad it worked out well for both of you, guys.

Okay - just in case others are looking for a case for their M-75. I found a LGS who stocks Gator cases and found the 73 M-75 fits very nicely into the LP case. The case itself is sturdy and of good quality for about $100. The interior lining is a bit trippy. They say fushia, I say pink. With a weird little lining that you put over the top of the guitar. At first I was a little put off, but then my bands female singer suggested the idea of snugging my guitar into a soft pink little va-JJ shouldn't be a turn off. Hard to argue with her.

Oh - and huge shout out to ThunderFace for setting me up with an early 70s catalog shot of the M-75 solid body models. Great band room material!

And lastly - anyone else out there have a burst M-75 solid body?

Yours (and previously Treem's) is the only one I've ever seen. But then again I've been actively seeking for Guilds for a little over a year. I'm sure more experienced LTGers did see another one but as far as I can see natural ones seem to be in majority.

And I was beginning to think I had the only one. Here is a photo of mine:

Btw - can you shoot some photos of your M75 in the Gator LP case by any chance? I have the original case with mine, but I actually prefer to use a Gator case if possible.

I'll try to get to it later this weekend. It's at my drummers, packed and ready for it's first live show (with me playing it, anyway) tomorrow night!

Your guitar looks awesome, by the way. Good to see mine's got kin.
