Got my first 12er back in the mid 70's ...it was an Epiphone dreadnaught that sounded good enough for me at the time. I was in high school and a bunch of us would have acoustic jam sessions into the wee hours of saturday mornings playing Neil Young, CSNY, Gordie Lightfoot, Eagles, Pink Floyd, Bobbie Dylan, Simon & Garfunkel, Jimmy Buffet, Johnny Cash, Jim Croce, Bruce Springsteen, Beatles, Supertramp etc. etc. etc....Most of my friends had Yamahas, Fenders and Takamine 6 strings and a few 12ers ... Great memories and loads of fun.
Later on I bought a Norman B50-12 (a maple dreadnought)....bolt on neck, solid top, maple back and sides and a much nicer sound.....played that one for many many years until that fateful day that I wondered into a music store in Hamilton and played a Guild JF30-12...Ever since then guitars just didn't sound the same  :D . I new I had played something absolutely fantastic. So now I am just biding my time and saving up to buy a used JF30-12. In the meantime I am playing a Simon & Patrick Songsmith (another dreadnaught 12er) that sounds chimy and deep enough to keep me satisfied...Also have my busking 12er a late 70's Takamine copy of an F512 (built like a tank) and a nice thin neck.
I do love travis style fingerpicking my GAD 25 6er, but I absolutely love strumming and crosspicking on the 12 string. A little heaven on earth
