Another arch back showdown. When I compared the DCE3 to the D-4 I found I much preferred the neck profile and stronger bottom end of the DCE3 and wished it had the top end chime and clarity of the D-4. Well, that's exactly what the D-26 has: a nice neck and clear tone with strong lows and sparkling highs. And just like that, it sends the D-4 and DCE3 to the relegation zone. Honestly, I don't know why Guild didn't fit the D-25 with scalloped braces sooner. It's the secret ingredient as far as I'm concerned. It also makes me wonder how incredible a scallop-braced D-25 made by Oxnard would be. We know how light and responsive their guitars are and an Oxnard arch back D-25 would likely be insanely good. It's fun to play the "what if" game.
