I greatly prefer the paddle headstock, but don’t mind the snakehead so much on ‘F’ bodies. On dreads, the snakehead typically looks all wrong to my eye. However, on my one Guild dread with a plain snakehead (D6-nt-hg), I swapped out the TRC to the early style, and it seems to balance things to the point where I kinda like it!

Yes! They brought that retro style back for a while on some models - starting in the late ‘90s, iirc. But it’s different in that the shield has been applied to a standard TRC, rather than the TRC being fully cut into the shape of a shied. I like ‘em both!

Neat, Bob. That TRC makes the crown look a little fatter, which IMO is a good thing.

I like it! Although I'd prefer that cover in a rosewood or koa laminate. The BWB laminate is cool though!

Asking price and selling price are two different things. I have to imagine those are the listed price.

EDIT: Now that I look again, there are quite a few that have sold for 1200-1500. Prices really run the gamut it seems.
Now I don't feel so bad about paying $2k for a '92 D-50!

1. I have two Guild dreads, one of each. I like 'em both, and audiences don't care.

2. What does TRC stand for?

3. I'm betting that the narrow one is the snakehead and the flared one is the paddle. Do I win?

You want an audience who cares about the shape of your guitar's headstock?

That is a great line. It could almost be a Country song, maybe something like:

They came to see a good lookin' man, with a soothing voice and a summer tan.
They hoped for love, but settled for beer. He sounded better as night drew near.
He picked up his favorite axe, and as he sang those fateful tracks,
What he mistook for adoring fans were hateful, spiteful guitar clans.

He played his heart out
He bared his soul
He gave his all
Little did he know

When it came down to it
They weren't there to rock
That audience cared more about the shape {dramatic pause}
of his guitar's headstock!

As far as the arched back, I own two acoustic guitars and one of them is a mahogany Taylor GS Mini with an arched back, and I really love that guitar. I get lots of compliments on the sound. I've had it since they came out. My other guitar is a Guild D-20. I saw a new Guild Jumbo Jr. in the guitar shop a month or so ago. It appears to be to be almost identical to the GS Mini, including the arched back. I consider myself a Guild man but I just couldn't bring myself to replace the GS Mini with a Jumbo Junior. There was nothing that I thought was better with the Guild. Where I'm going with all this, because I like the GS Mini so much, I would really like a spruce top dreadnaught and the D-25 with an arched back appeals to me. I see one in my future should the right one come up at the right time and in the right place.

Do not let outdated thinking discount the reasonable deal of today. The reasonable deal of just a few years ago? That ship has sailed. Instead buy the reasonable deal of today and watch it become more reasonable. I know people who didn't buy a D 18 because they were waiting for one at $1200 when the market had moved to $1500, and now $2000 can be reasonable. If you find a D 25 you like for $1200, buy it if it doesn't need a reset.
