Last year I purchased a D 4 ,in like new condition with original HSC .At the time ,these were going for anywhere from 399.00 to 500.00. I bought mine around the middle of those two price ranges.I did do a complete full guitar rerub with tung oil, which made it appear as a gloss finish.
It needed no other work. Neck was / is perfect .
My question is this, 12 to 13 months ago the price of these ,in good to excellent condition was ,imo rather low. Now I'm seeing the same guitars being
Advertised in the 699.00 to 850.00 dollar range.a few for a bit less, but overall coast to coast 6 to 8. Has the recent popularity of these driven the price?? Or is it all guilds of USA builds just going up?

Over the past three or four years (it seemed to coincide with the pandemic) we saw prices jump for most used guitars, including Guilds.

I have a couple D4s, bought years ago. I didn't pay more than 400 for any of them (all in great shape), and one, with a fair amount of nicks and brusies, I picked up for $150.00.

We've been seeing pretty steady appreciation for the last 15 years. Factory closures created some availability issues, along with a growing appreciation of the brand. A healthy come-back from the Great Recession set things in motion again and COVID didn't really seem to impact prices.

Since then generalized inflation and increasing scarcity have done what they do.

There was actually one here in the classifieds a few months ago in great shape for $475 I believe. I should have jumped on that as I've been thinking of getting a plain Jane Guild for jams. The asking prices on Reverb, as the OP stated, have gone up quite a bit but keep in mind that what people ask and what they get can be two very different things.

That's for sure. However I had two offers of 600.00 for my D4.
Not ready to sell it .it's got a tone of its own.,as most all guitars do. But the history that came with it is just as cool imo.
It lived its entire life in a recording studio, that shut down in 2018 in Kalamazoo. From 2018 until I bought it at an estate sell in 2022 ,it sat in its case in a controlled environment .It was purchased new by the owner of the studio from Chicago music exchange
In 1991,along with 2 drum kits, 2 gibson electric guitars ,and a bass guitar.records of string changes came in the case.
