I have a Guild X 170 AB Manhattan with a series number of AK 170813. The folks at Guild are still searching, but they believe it was made in the transition of Guild either 1998 or 1999. Does anyone have more accurate information. I practiced only a few times on this great guitar and then settled into classical.

It's a Westerly built guitar most likely with SD-1 pickups. Seymour Duncan made the Guild HB1 clone pickups. The SD have wire leads directly installed on the pickup verses lug terminals on Guild made HB-1 pickups.
The consensus is SD1's pickups closely match the tone of Guild HB1's.

Prices range from $1400 (quick sale price) to $2600 (TBD sale price). Any price above $1900 will likely delay the sale.

The "Date-your-Guild" website shows Guild X-170s made in 1997-1999 have serial number AK170401 to AK170799. Your serial number indicates a later build date.

Ask Hans. Maybe he can give you more information.

I suggest you look more closely at the inside label. It may be a handwriting issue as the description should be X170 SB where SB refers to the Sun Burst finish.

My bad. Learned something new! I need to check out the label on the one I picked up a few months back!
Confirmed my X170 also has a AB suffix.

Welcome aboard @MDowd !

Thing of beauty. Congrats!!!!

And, in case you didn't know, Hans is the authority on these matters!! :) 1998!!!

That's pretty much before the transition from Westerly to Corona, by the way... It just seems like the company stopped keeping good records (available to the outside world) around this time and the dates just weren't published. Hans has the inside track on that stuff! :)
