Hello; I have a really nice Starfire. The original DeArmond USA gold foil pickup has shorted out. Is it worth repairing? Also, since this was a budget line, should I replace the wiring harness and pots with new one made by Tone Man? I figure that Fender made the original pickups, but the wiring harness and components was where the real cost savings were made. Plus outsourced labor. Still the craftsmanship on it is very nice. Thanks for you input.

k1enneth, welcome to LTG - I'm a DeArmond fan - can't advise on the pickups,
other than that I've noticed the Gold Tones sell pretty quickly on Reverb, so there's some demand
for them and my understanding is they're mostly well-regarded by those who know about them.
Hopefully someone more knowledgeable will jump in...

Big Gold Foil PU fan Here. If it were me, I would either fix or replace it. I think the new wiring harness is also a worthwhile investment. Good luck!
