This is one of those things I just don't understand. There is a Detonator offered at this time on eBay that has had its pickups and trem bridge removed. Why? The body and neck look to be in great shape. To me, the Detonator is one of those guitars that need absolutely no modifications at all. I own a few. I can only assume the seller thinks it was just a "Strat copy" and decided to strip out the pickups and the trem/bridge unit and sell the rest. Did they even bother playing it first?

I’ve been chatting with the seller and am considering it because I can restore it. At the very least it would be cool to have the neck.

Problem is that with shipping it’s price is close to a complete Detonator since they really don’t get much love.

tonepoet, I just now noticed your signature - wow! Tremendous collection of Guilds, particular the '80's!

GAD: I was just on your website. You have an impressive selection as well. Your S300-AD and M-80 are twins with mine. As for the Detonator, it would be a great project to bring back to life and show it the love it deserves. The actual Guild/Mueller bridge would be the difficult thing to find. DiMarzio used to make a flange-less Class of '55 single coil that sounded darn close to the VS-1's that were stock in the Detonators. The bridge was a DP103 DiMarzio PAF humbucker. A set of black Sperzels would be the tuners. I just have too many other projects going and another Detonator isn't what I need right now.

Walrus: Thanks. Back about 20 years ago, you would find almost every solid body Guild on eBay for $300 or less and no one bidding against you. That's when I was able to put most of my Guild collection together. Of course, Grot I think still holds the record of having the largest collection of electric Guilds.

Have fun,

Here's 4 of my 6 Detonators. Another black and an "Electric Blue" are missing from this line up. The white one did not come to me stock, but it did have one of the original DiMarzio VS-1 single coils. So it has the VS-1 in the neck, a DiMarzio Class of '55 in the middle and a Bill Lawrence L500-C in the bridge. All my others have the stock DiMarzio VS-1's and PAF HB's in the bridge.
