First time I've ever seen him sing.....I think he does alright. Boy, what I'd give to be able to play like that. I'll bet he's spent a few minutes practicing in his day.

All the guys mentioned in this thread have the same effect on me: I either want to go straight home and woodshed til my fingers bleed or smash my axe into kindling. So far it's only cost me a few bandaids.

Doyle is outstanding, and I've enjoyed several videos on YouTube getting to know him. There are a few of Kottke on there, too.

One question about that video - I know his initials are DD, but d'ya think he might be secretly endorsing DeArmond guitar straps?

That's interesting Jeff. Mr. Dykes will be playing here in October and that's an evening that I really look forward to. Doyle plays churches all over the country, but also does secular music venues such as the Grand Ol' Opry and Branson.

If you ever get the chance to see him perform, you have to see him in person. You won't regret it.

Saw Doyle Dykes at Winfield a couple years ago...a truly class act on and off the stage.

Pug,

Doyle was here last year. I'd heard how good he was before I went to see him, then ended up on the front row for his concert. I was unprepared for what I was about to see. I've never seen a display of acoustic prowess like that in my life.

Looking so forward to his return here shortly.
