This is one I posted some time back. Check out the "Performance Retrospective". Doyle will be playing here at my church next month. Wouldn't miss it for the world! Be sure and watch the last couple of songs.
I don't know where I've been on this guy. Smokin' locoweed and seeing pink panthers, I guess.
In the biker jazz department, here's a few seconds of what you can do witn a pedal steel. Wait a few seconds for the tunes to play. http://davidwright.ws/
Here's an example of all the different kinds of music you can do on a steel. The tune on the lower right, "The Thief," is middle eastern. And this guy is a Nashville fixture who toured with Johnny Paycheck etc.
Steel's are like trumpets, the guys that play them are generally pretty darned good musicians & the bands that have em usually keep the party jumping.
Interesting to hear some nice steel guitar diversions from country music
Although it's hard not to hear the country roots in almost all of the material.
That's ok, Steel guitars are one reason I have such a tolerance for country music. And Willie Nelson.
